Starting therapy
How can I refer myself for therapy?
The easiest way to refer yourself to Lifted Therapy is to use our booking form for a free 20 minute telephone call for us to talk through how we can support you.
Where can I have therapy?
We offer appointments online and at our therapy space in Odiham, Hampshire. This is to allow you to access appointments at a convenient time and in a confidential, quiet space.
Why should I talk to someone who doesn't know me?
Often, it can be easier to talk to somebody who does not know your history or have an established role within your life, and therefore can be more objective in the support they can provide during therapy.
What happens during my first appointment?
Your therapist will welcome you to your session, take some details from you (address, date of birth and GP surgery – telling you why we need these details and where we store them) and tell you a little bit about themselves.
Your therapist will explain what will happen in the session and the importance of getting to know you and understanding the difficulties that have brought you to see them. We will go at your pace, allowing you to take all the time you need, without rushing you.
Read more on our Wellbeing Hub.
Can I have therapy if I don't live locally?
Yes, we offer online appointments no matter where you live in the UK. Alternatively, you’re welcome to attend appointments in person at our therapy space in Odiham, near Basingstoke.
How can therapy help?
Therapy can help in different ways: from identifying and examining the relationship between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, supporting you in developing new ways of coping, to managing emotions and developing compassion towards yourself.
We help you to explore what is happening in a safe and confidential environment. Your therapist will also focus on how to manage any difficult situations in the future.
Is therapy confidential?
Everything we talk about will remain confidential. If an instance arises where we feel you are at risk of harm either to yourself or others around you, or you disclose a safeguarding concern, then we have a duty of care to speak to the relevant authorities. Your GP is not usually informed of your contact with us, but there might be times where it would be helpful for us to speak with them.
Do I have to lie on a couch?
No, this is a common myth about having therapy. You can sit on a comfortable chair.

Paying for sessions
How much does therapy cost?
Please see our Prices & Fees page for further details.
Can I use my health or medical insurance?
Yes, we have partnered with Aviva and Bupa so you can access our therapy through your existing health insurance policy, subject to cover level and availability. Please contact your provider to identify what cover they offer.
You’ll need to have sufficient insurance cover in place and declare the details of this to us before our first session. Without this, your sessions will be subject to our standard fees.
How do I pay for my sessions?
You'll be sent an invoice with a reference number. We kindly ask you to pay this by bank transfer, with this reference number included, at least 48 hours in advance of each session.
What's your cancellation policy?
For all our appointments we hold a 48-hour cancellation policy, meaning that if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice you will be charged 100% of the appointment cost. We will talk through the cancellation policy with you during your initial consultation with us, and we will ask you to agree to these terms.

During therapy
Which therapy is best for me?
This is something that both you and your therapist will discuss in your sessions. They will find out more about you, your current difficulties and your goals for therapy. Together, you will plan your therapy journey.
How long is each therapy session?
CBT & EMDR therapy sessions last 50 minutes. This is the case for online and in-person appointments. We also offer a 90-minute EMDR in-person appointment option, see our Prices & Fees page for details.
Is my personal data secure?
Yes. For online appointments we use industry-standard encryption to keep all of our communication safe and secure. All your personal data is stored safely in a secure, protected database in the UK. We are fully-compliant with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Where is your practice? Is there free parking?
Our practice is located at The Annexe at Odiham Cottage Hospital in Hampshire, easily accessible from Basingstoke, Reading, Hook, Fleet, Farnham and surrounding areas. There is a free car park on Buryfields, a 1-minute walk from our practice.
