Getting started

How can I refer myself for therapy?

The easiest way to refer yourself to Lifted Therapy is to use our booking form for a free 20 minute telephone call for us to talk through how we can support you.

Which therapy is best for me?

This is something that both you and your therapist will discuss in your sessions. They will find out more about you, your current difficulties and your goals for therapy. Together, you will plan your therapy journey.

How can therapy help?

Therapy sessions can help in different ways: from identifying and examining the relationship between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, supporting you in developing new ways of coping, to managing emotions and developing compassion towards yourself. Therapy can help you to explore what is happening in a safe and confidential environment. Your therapist will also focus on how to manage any difficult situations in the future.

Can I have therapy if I don't live in Hampshire or Berkshire?

Yes, we offer video appointments no matter where you live. Alternatively, you’re welcome to attend appointments in person at our clinic in Odiham.

Where can I have therapy?

We offer video appointment sessions using Microsoft Teams, and face-to-face appointments at our clinic in Odiham, Hampshire. This is to allow patients to access appointments at a convenient time and place. We would always recommend that sessions are conducted in a confidential and quiet environment.

Paying for sessions

How much does therapy cost?

Please see our Prices page for further details.

How do I pay for my sessions?

We currently accept payments through bank transfer. You will be sent an invoice with the details with a request to pay prior to the session. You will be given a reference number to use. We kindly ask that you pay for your appointment at least 48 hours in advance.

How many sessions will I need?

This will depend on a number of factors, including the difficulty that you are referring for. For example, CBT is generally a short-term therapy and we would usually recommend a minimum of six sessions, but most people find 10-20 sessions are sufficient when working on one difficulty. Once we begin working with you, we will continue to review your support on an ongoing basis and can then decide together what would be most helpful.

Can I use my medical insurance?

Yes, we accept patients using Aviva and Vitality insurance providers. If you would like to book an appointment please get in touch. However, we would request you speak to your provider first to identify what cover they offer, and then inform us. If we are not aware that you are using your medical insurance to pay for sessions then you will be charged directly.

What is your cancellation policy?

For all our appointments we hold a 48-hour cancellation policy, meaning that if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice you will be charged 100% of the appointment cost. We will talk through the cancellation policy with you during your initial consultation with us, and we will ask you to agree to these terms.

During therapy

How long is each therapy session?

Each therapy session is a 50-minute appointment. This is the case for our video appointments and our face-to-face appointments.

Is my personal data secure?

Yes. For video appointments we use Microsoft Teams, with in-built industry-standard encryption to keep all of our communication safe and secure. All your personal data is stored safely in a secure, protected database in the UK. We are fully-compliant with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Will our conversations be confidential?

Everything we talk about will remain confidential within the usual limits of confidentiality. This means in instances where we feel you are at risk of harm either to yourself or others around you, or you disclose a safeguarding concern, then we have a duty of care to speak to the relevant services. However, as standard your GP is not informed of your contact with us, but there might be times where we agree together that it would be helpful to speak with them.

Where is your practice?

Our practice is located at The Annexe at Odiham Cottage Hospital in Hampshire. We have a private room to keep everything confidential. Our practice is easily accessible from Basingstoke, Reading, Hook, Fleet and nearby areas. Odiham itself is surrounded by countryside, and our practice is just a couple of minutes’ walk from a great selection of independent shops in the village centre.

Does your practice have free parking?

Yes, there is a car park on Buryfields, next door to Odiham Cottage Hospital. This is less than a minutes’ walk from our practice in The Annexe.
